decentralization experts: do you know of any successful "user brings their own backend" type apps (that implement the app logic/ui but not storage mechanism/account management), particularly ones that are not trapped within the Google ecosystem?

@riga This is an older effort, but unhosted.org described the problem early and has tried to solve it. Tim Berners Lee is also attempting similar with Solid (solid.inrupt.com/). Personally, I think we need decentralized identity first (e.g. Sovrin), then decentralized storage (e.g. IPFS, but fast & reliable), before decentralized apps will work as we want them to.

@riga You should probably also check out blockstack. Their "Gaia Hub" component is a way to drop in your own file storage for whatever dApp you want to run.
