People in general seem to have a poor conception of what a "nuclear option" is. The US tried to play "nice" (for certain definitions of nice) during the Pacific War, until Japan proved it wasn't worth it, at which point the US changed to a doctrine of "fuck it, let's just kill everyone in the most cost effective way possible".

Think about it when you're feeling like your peaceful resistance is working.
