I really liked this little essay:

Kavanaugh

The right is continuing to fight the culture wars by escalating them — rushing a one-on-one spectacle of a hearing, yelling belligerently at “Democrats,” leaving no room for deference to the victim/accuser in the room...

Maybe it’s optimistic of me, but I sense that this strategy is running up against a wall of history, and is finally coming apart at the cracks.

Evidence? I will have to keep looking/thinking about that part.

I can't tell if I'm simply out of things to say, or not competent enough to say the things I still want to say, or whether there is any difference between the two 🤔

Will there eventually be a time when large companies’ keynotes at internal presentations are dominated by some other kind of analogy than Football?

Like, video game analogies maybe?

Okay, too many of you idiots have been getting tomb-cursed and I'm sick of all the moaning on main about "oh, the sand bugs, they eating me" and "oh, I wander a hell of ancestors and drown in the Nile when I blink"

I am putting this orange cone RIGHT in front of the pyramid. It is now OUT OF ORDER.

Now start RESPECTING the ORANGE CONE.

I dont think I've ever heard a man apologize for anything without sounding like Carter Burke in Aliens.

New artwork up on Twitter! As usual, boosts are appreciated, and commissions are open.

Text:

"you try to recall the past.

it is hazy, mediated, doubled.

it quivers as you try to grasp it.

you've lost it in the river.

there's something like a virus in your mind."

@miksimum Plausible. Since I don't have a better theory, I'll go with yours.

But... is their plan to come forward publicly after the admin collapses and say "Yes, that was me who wrote that op-ed, I am an unsung hero, vote for me?"

I... somehow don't think that's going to work out well for them, if so.

Coming back to Langston Hughes after he’s been lounging on my shelf for like 15 years, and really feeling his fragments, reading like bluesy haikus

My poem “Winter Birthday II” is in Praxis Magazine today

When I look to a forum to get me through a hard spot in a game, I swear --

Halfway down the 2nd page, there's always one guy who's fuming about how this part "proves how much this game sucks" and is clear evidence of total incompetence in game design

In these posts, I can always hear my own id, the pissy way it sounds after I throw down my controller and give up for the night

They usually bring a little bit of amusement to my night

I would like to coin the phrase "Fantasy protagonist fallacy".

It's the belief that a sufficient amount of trudging across the map, fighting random encounters, solving riddles, enduring suffering, and demonstrating virtue will inevitably add up, somehow, someday, to "saving the world".

It's similar to the "clueless" behavior from @vgr 's Gervais posts.

All the fantasy novels and JRPGs I consumed as a kid drilled this into me and I had to unlearn it.

I should write a blog post

"Other experts, asked to review the findings, called them credible, rigorous — and disturbing. The study bolstered a growing body of research, they said, finding that social media scrambles users’ perceptions of outsiders, of reality, even of right and wrong." #facebook #ethics
