Yesterday I got to see a woman wearing a dress made entirely of balloons mount a dragon suit made of balloons, worn by 2 people, in front of a cave made of balloons at Maker Expo in Kitchener. According to the artist, Drew Ripley, the first time such a thing has been done in the ballooning artist community. So, surprising to an expert, not just to the public.
(By the way, I had to transcode this video to MP4 and cut the file size down to less than 8 MB to post it to Mastodon, ffmpeg FTW.)
@strangeattractor there is a balloon artist community?! of course there is 👌 😂
@micahstubbs An international balloon artist community no less. The main artist, Drew Ripley, assembled a team of people from across Canada, and from Ireland and the UK, to help him create and assemble the installation. It had 21 000 balloons, and took 3 days to set up.
Some of the team also participated in this competiton. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/balloon-twisting-team-canada-world-convention-mickey-mouse-1.4585695
