Whether we should continue to adhere to the roles biology chose for us is a valid question, but it's weird when people suggest that patriarchy is some vast male conspiracy against women.
It seems obvious to me that natural selection prescribes certain roles and social structures based on sex, and that we carried these over into modernity, even as they slowly began to lose their relevance and necessity.
@machado @zacharius @nindokag That sounds very reasonable and Jared Diamond-esque, and I’d probably go with that theory if I weren’t a crotchety disillusioned not-so-old doc who’s seen lots of research money spent on plausible-sounding biomedical theories that failed the test of a randomized trial.
There probably won’t be a sophisticated enough historical simulator to test all possible outcomes in my lifetime, but if/when it comes it’ll be social scientists’ day of reckoning.
