doom & gloom, imperfect analogy

Civilization is like a car going 80mph straight towards the edge of a cliff 300 yards away, and the current range of political debate is between "slam on the gas a lot harder" and "slam on the gas a little bit harder". Hitting the brakes and turning the car is not in the conversation.

that is, we're still talking about stuff like "creating jobs" and "economic growth" instead of closing highways, shutting down factories, grounding planes, de-industrializing.

@nindokag Well, in the sense that we're letting our infrastructure decay we're shutting down highways in the most eco-friendly way possible: by doing nothing!
